Activist and Co-Founder of Reforum.io,
Anastasia Karimova is a Russian civic activist and a former journalist.
Since 2004, Karimova has co-organized and supported several protest rallies in Moscow. She was an active participant in some of the most noticeable civic initiatives, including the political debates hosted by Alexey Navalny, and she stood for a municipal election in Moscow in 2008. From 2008 - 2014, Karimova worked at Kommersant Publishing House, one of the major media companies in Russia. She wrote more than 150 long-reads covering business and economic issues, public administration, and anti-corruption and was a frequent speaker at Kommersant-FM radio station. In 2014, she left Kommersant because of censorship.
In 2016 she represented Transparency International Russia as a spokesperson, where she promoted anti-corruption investigations and analyses. From 2016-2019 she conducted research studies and served as Vice-President of Liaisons at Harvard Law and International Development Society. Her international experience includes work for the UN Women in New York and Fletcher Social Investment Group in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2019, she co-founded the Reforum.io project, which aims to develop a roadmap of reforms for Russia.
Karimova is an alumna of the Moscow School of Political Studies. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Moscow State University School of Journalism and a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
