Transatlantic Anniversaries

Transatlantic Anniversaries:
Legacies and Unfinished Business
This year the CEPA Forum commemorated a unique alignment of anniversaries. From 1949 with the founding of NATO to 1989 with the fall of communism and the first wave of NATO enlargement in 1999, the transatlantic community is celebrating an arc of incredible transformation. This legacy remains unfinished. It is a task made more urgent by the return of Great Power competition and the rise of resurgent or restive nations. The 2019 CEPA Forum celebrated the lessons of the past and examined shared priorities for a safer and more secure future.
